Elba Band Day is back!! It will be celebrated this Saturday, April 22, from 8 a.m. -5 p.m., in downtown Elba.

“You don’t want to miss out on all the happenings, events, and treats that you will find on the Square in downtown Elba,” said Elba band director Shaun Hammonds. “This will be the first big fundraiser for the upcoming trip [March 2018] to Chicago for the Elba High School band.”

Band Day will feature vendors, arts and crafts, a car show, 5K Run, 3 on 3 Tournament, and entertainment throughout the day. Also, there will be food including hamburgers, hotdogs, corn dogs, chicken fingers, snow cones, ice cream, baked goodies and drinks.

Also, Hammonds said many of the local businesses will be open throughout the day with great sales in their stores! Weevil 101 will be the official radio station for all the Elba Band Day activities.

“The Elba High School Marching Tiger Band looks forward to representing our school, community, and state in a nationally televised parade next March in Chicago,” Hammonds said. “We have already received some donations for the trip and would definitely appreciate any donations given to help fund the trip.”

He said this trip is not just a trip for the band, but it will also be a great promotion for Elba.

“This is a once in a lifetime experience for our kids and band program, as well as our school and community,” said Hammonds. “This will also be the 75th Anniversary of our band program. What a great way to commemorate our band!”
