Three injured in single vehicle accident

Local emergency personnel responded Friday afternoon, May 5, to the scene of a single vehicle accident on Alabama Highway 189, approximately seven miles north of the Elba city limits. The accident was reported at 3:05 p.m. Upon arrival on scene, responders found a 2009 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Bonnie Palmer Morris, of Enterprise, off the roadway where it crashed into the trees. Members of the Elba Volunteer Fire Department had to use extrication equipment to remove Morris and a passenger [Clara Dianne Hockensmith of Enterprise] from the vehicle – both Morris and Hockensmith were transported by Haynes Life Flight to a Dothan hospital for treatment of their injuries after initially being treated by Coffee County EMS at the scene. Another passenger [Huey Kilcrease of Enterprise] was transported the hospital in Enterprise by Coffee County EMS to receive medical treatment. This was a Trooper investigated accident, and according to the accident report, the driver told the investigating officer she did not know what happened to cause the vehicle to leave the roadway and her to lose control before striking the trees.
