Dr Tommy Jones


Dr. Tommy L. Jones, son of the late Levi Parker Jones, Sr. and Leanna McCall Jones, was born on May 25, 1940 in Century, FL. He died on Friday, April 28, 2017.

Dr. Jones received his formal education from the Escambia county schools. His development was strongly influenced by his grandparents, Fred Jones and Gertrude Jones. Dr. Jones was Salutatorian when he graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1958.

After high school, Dr. Jones attended Alabama State University. He majored in science and education and graduated in 1962.

After graduation, Dr. Jones moved to Enterprise, AL where he began his teaching career at Coppinville High School. He was also a basketball and track team coach. While at Coppinville, he was named Teacher of The Year. Also while in Enterprise he met and married J. Ann Bullard from Elba, AL.

Dr. Jones moved to Michigan where he was a teacher in the Mt. Morris school district and a teacher and an administrator in the Flint School District.

Dr. Jones decided to change professions, returned to shcool and received his medical degree. He retired in Savannah, GA but later came out of retirement and began working as a faculty member for the Georgia College of Medicine.

A Celebration of Life Services will be held for Dr. Tommy L. Jones on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home, 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur, GA.  

Burial services will be held in Century, FL at Century Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
