A female suspect’s plans to rob a Coffee County convenient store ended when the store clerk took control of the situation and held the suspect until law enforcement could arrive on scene.
According to Coffee County Chief Deputy R.W. Whitworth, a white female, identified as Terri Boyd Bowden, entered the Kountry Korner store at the intersection of Highway 125 and Highway 167 N and attempted to rob the store. He said she presented two weapons, but the store clerk reacted by taking the weapons from the suspect.
Whitworth added that the store clerk also took control of Bowden until Coffee County deputies were able to arrive on scene.
“During the altercation, the subject obtained cuts and abrasions,” Whitworth said. “She was transported to the hospital for evaluation.”
Upon release from the hospital, Bowden was placed in the Coffee County Jail. She was charged with robbery – first degree.
“The store clerk did a very heroic deed but also put himself in a dangerous situation,” said Whitworth.
It was later discovered that one of the weapons was a B.B. pistol and the other was a 380 automatic.
